Back to the New York Comic Con It's been a while since I posted here, but I wanted to get the news out that I'll be in booth #2039 at the New York Comic Con this weekend. Below is a video interview taken at last year's show. Hope I'll be seeing lots of you there!
Another California gallery show! This past summer my work was exhibited in Montery,CA. Check out my blog to see how that show earned my work a spot in the current issue of Carmel Magazine. Now severyal of my original paintings are on view at Distinctin Gallery in Escondido, CA. It's great to have my work shown all the way on the west coast. I hope you can stop by the show if you're in the area.

Pre-Order NOW! Earlier this year I was photographed during the creation of a pin-up based on Kay O'Hara for a book titled "How to Airbrush Pin-Ups" by Frank Season (Wolfgang Publications, Oct. 2009).
This was a first for me, and I'm happy to be able to share my technique with other artists this way. The book includes how-to sequences by six other artists and me. It's the only book of it's kind on the market, and is already ranked #5 among airbrush books and is close to breaking the top 100,000 in books overall.
It's available on Amazon.com now for pre-order. Get your copy today!
Here's a little preview of my chapter in the book:
If you prefer to wait, beginning October 1st I'll be offering a limited number gift sets directly through my website which will include a signed print of "Tickle Me Pink" with a signed First Edition book.
Visit wolfpub.com For more titles from this publisher.

NEW! YouTube Channel: YouTube.com/susanheidi I decided to use YouTube to corral my favorite videos having to do with art and retro style. Lots of women asked about hair styling tips for the retro pinup look, so I've included my favorite how-to's on the subject. There is also another video interview from the NYCC and a video I produced with Lulu from shugahfilm.com which I'm really excited about because it shows off the amazing energy of the con. I was happy to get permission from Devil Doll - one of my favorite bands - to use their music for the video.

another interview from NY Comic Con 2009 Lisa Collins with Hollywood.com caught up with me at the NY Comic Con during her quest to solicit opinions on which comic book would make a great movie, tv series, or cartoon. I chose Mickey Spillane's Mike Danger because it's about a private eye from the 50's and has a great Pulp Fiction/Danger Dame kind of feel. A natural choice for me!

Interviewed @ NY Comic Con 2009 I did several interivews at this year's NY Comic Con. The first to be posted is by Edward Champion at www.edrants.com:
There is also a print interview I did with Blinky's Zine that is now available to purchase directly from Blinky's. That interview was lots of fun and reveals some little known facts about me ;)
The zine is beautifully done, so go on over and get yourself a copy!

First Appearance of the New Year @ NY Comic Con, February 6-8 That's right, the new year is just getting started and I'm gearing up for a return to the Artist Alley at the New York Comic Con (Javits Center, NYC). I'll be revealing some new works and showing off some fan faves. Read more about the show in my blog.
More in the Works I have lots of projects in the works, including my first West Coast appearance in October, contribution to a pinup "How To" book, collaboration with this year's "Tease-O-Rama", and more. I'll also be adding more frequent posts to my pinup art blog about my inspiration and how to add a little inspiration to your life on a budget.
And the cover goes to.... ...well, the back cover that is! My painting titled "Fishnet Stockings" made it's way onto the back cover of the Bud Plant Incorrigible catalog! I was so excited when the catalog came in the mail and there she was :) I'll be posting a picture of the catalog in my blog and in the photo section of my myspace profile. Oh, and speaking of myspace, I'm fast approaching 7,000 wonderfully inspirational and supportive friends. If you're not already one of them and you do myspace, I'd love to welcome you aboard!

New Painting of Kay O'Hara Completed
Wondering what I've been working on? Below is a close-up of a new painting I completed recently of the Canadian pinup glamour and stocking model, Kay O'Hara. Kay also has an alternate website set up just for the troops at pinupglamour.net. The photo is a bit dark and out of focus (I'm terrible at photographing artwork), so I'm waiting for the scan until I post the whole thing. Anyway, here's a little teaser:

I'm freshly back from the first annual Harvest Art Show in Atlanta. I was honored to take part in this exhibit which showcased the work of top name pinup and erotic artists, photographers, and performers from around the world. My work was exhibited next to the the legendary Steve Diet Goedde and well known pinup artist Dave Nestler - what great company to be in! It was great to meet the other artists and attendees. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to look at my work and took the time to chat with me. Below are a few pictures from the event. I've posted more on myspace, so go on over and check them out!
Here I am with my exhibit of fine art prints - oh, so proud!
Lots of folks viewing my work - YAY!!
I'm currently working on several commissions, sketches, and studies for new pinup paintings. I'll be starting a new full scale painting within the next week (updates can be seen on my easel page). Today I signed 100 postcards featuring my "Semper Fi" painting which I'll be sending in a care package to Marines stationed abroad with the help of the model, Cherry Dollface.

I've been busy preparing for two shows this month. The first is one of three being produced by Nancy Neon in Boston, MA. You can read more about it in my blog. The second is the Harvest Art Show in Atlanta. I have plans to attend the Atlanta show, so I hope some of you can make it there to say hello and see my work in person! There have been some other projects in the works that I'll write more about once I return from my trip.

NOW AVAILABLE FOR ONLINE ORDERING!!!!
Prints of the following paintings are now available for online ordering. This series of paintings is based on images from my exclusive photo shoot with the amazing retro pinup model Sabina Kelley this past April. The team behind the incredible reference images included myself, Sabina, photographer Michelle Collignon, and makeup/hair guru Chris Montoya. I'm extremely happy with the resulting paintings, which incorporate sketches in the background to give a deeper insight into the main pinup character. Afterall, no one is completely one-sided!
Casting Call
Oh, Cherry Pie!
Pink & Black Days
I am super excited to be showing my work in person this October 6th at the Harvest Art Show in Atlanta, GA!!!!! The line-up of artists and performers is AMAZING! According to their website, "Harvest will present the best of the world's artists in all genres of the erotic arts in addition to performance and erotic fashion." I've shipped down four of my most popular pinup prints which will be available to purchase at the event. I'm really looking forward to meeting with other fans of pinup and erotic art!
NEW! "Oh, Cherry Pie! " and "Casting Call"
The first, named for lyrics from the rockabilly song, "Cherry Pie" by Jack Rabit Slim, is a classic 50's style pinup painting of the beautiful retro pinup model Sabina Kelley. The second (also of Sabina) got it's title from the imagery of an old-time Hollywood starlet and the infamous director's couch. Sabina loves the drawings in the background. I added them to showcase the tremendous range of her beauty. The reference photos for these paintings were shot exclusively for me during a photo shoot I directed with Los Angeles photographer Michelle Collignon (www.michellexstar.com) and muah Chris Montoya (Chris loves working with Sabina as much as I do, as you can tell from his myspace page).
