1. What are "fine art" prints?

Unlike poster or photo prints, “fine art” prints are produced on the highest quality archival watercolor papers using archival pigmented inks to impart maximum color gamut with true color fidelity and exceptional image permanence that artists and collectors demand. These prints will last for generations when properly handled.

2. What is a giclee print?

Giclèe is a French word loosely meaning “to squirt or spray”. This term describes the method of applying the pigmented inks to the fine art paper. A professional grade printer is used to spray tiny droplets of ink onto the paper to create the image. Using this method, the final image retains much of the richness and depth of the original painting. Unlike high speed printing processes, giclèe printing is very time consuming.

3.What is a Certificate of Authenticity?

In compliance with New York State Law, information is supplied, as indicated, for each multiple of an edition produced. This information is provided in the form of a Certificate of Authenticity, which includes the following:

Title of the work, Artist’s name, source of signature, medium and process for production of the print, use of master, year produced, size of the edition and number within the edition of this particular print, number of artist proofs in excess of the limited edition, additional multiples produced from the same master and whether they are signed or unsigned. This Certificate of Authenticity constitutes an express warranty that no additional numbered multiples of the same image, exclusive of proofs, have been produced.

“Article fifteen of the New York arts and cultural affairs law provides for the disclosure in writing of certain information concerning prints, photographs and sculpture. This information is available to you in accordance with that law.”

“Article twelve H of the New York general business law provides for disclosure in writing of certain information concerning multiples of prints and photographs when sold for more than one hundred dollars ($100) each, exclusive of any frame, prior to effecting a sale of them. This law requires disclosure of such matters as the identity of the artist, the artist’s signature, the medium, whether the multiple is a reproduction, the time when the multiple was produced, use of the master which produced the multiple, and the number of multiples in a limited edition. If a prospective purchaser so requests, the information shall be transmitted to him prior to payment of the placing of an order for a multiple. If payment is made by a purchaser prior to delivery of such an art multiple, this information will be supplied at the time of or prior to delivery, in which case the purchaser is entitled to a refund if, for reasons related to matter contained in such information, he returns the multiple substantially in the condition in which he received, within thirty days of receiving it. In addition, if after payment and deliver, it is ascertained that the information provided is incorrect, the purchaser may be entitled to certain remedies."

4.What do you mean by “limited edition” or “artist’s proof”?

Limited Edition:
Each limited edition print is a reproduction of the original artwork that is signed and sequentially numbered by the artist. The total number of prints in the edition is fixed or limited by the artist. A certificate of authenticity is included with each limited edition print.

Artist Proofs:
Artist’s proofs are an edition of prints set aside by the artist separate from the numbered limited edition. Each artist’s proof is meticulously reviewed by the artist to ensure the highest level of fidelity to the original. Susan offers artist’s proofs in a smaller addition than the limited edition, making them even more desirable for collectors and thus more valuable. Each artist’s proof is signed, sequentially numbered, and annotated with the designation A.P.

5. What is an “open edition” print?

An open edition is a reproduction of the original artwork. The number of prints published is not pre-determined. Susan’s open edition prints are produced on archival quality fine art paper using archival inks.

6. What is your return policy?

You satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. Returns are accepted for a full refund within 30 days of receipt. If you receive a print that does not meet your expectations, please send an e-mail to sales@susanheidi.com to receive a return authorization and label. The print must be returned to Susan Heidi Art Studios in the same packaging in which it was sent to you and include a return authorization in order for you to receive a full refund.
